Jacqueline Abbo - The new Atlantic House student

Date Posted: 07 July 2015

The new Atlantic House student due to arrive in the middle of August. She is 17 year old Jacqueline Abbo, and has previously attended Kisoko High School in Tororo. The father of Isaac, the previous scholarship student, and Vale for Africa are currently helping her with her necessary paperwork.

In September, countries around the world will agree on a new development agenda, known as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These are goals established which will seek to end global poverty, as well as achieving equality and tackling climate change by 2030. This will replace The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The MDGs have led to significant progress. However, they fell short in achieving their full ambition – in part because of the failure to invest in adolescent girls.

But, the Sustainable Development Goals contain several goals which target specifically girls. With even Vale For Africa doing their bit, maybe these new reformed targets shall be met.
